On the 4th of July, we gathered in the town of La Palma del Condado, Spain, for the final meeting of the EcoOlives project. This event marked a remarkable journey that began on January 1, 2022.
Over the last 3 years, the EcoOlives project set out to redefine the way we see olive farming into a model of sustainability for both experienced producers/farmers and newcomers. Throughout the project, a set of materials and methodologies were developed to ease the transition into organic olive and olive oil production for producers and newcomers that aims to provide a new standard for sustainable agriculture, demonstrating significant environmental and economic benefits as well as an added value to the producers. These developed materials and methods aim to be a complete walk-through for the producers to embark on a journey of Organic Olive / Olive Oil production, from growth to marketing and certification. Through these efforts, the EcoOlives project has successfully advanced sustainable olive farming, setting new benchmarks for the industry and paving the way for a greener future.
We’re planning more interactive sessions with local farmers and inviting innovative ideas to keep the EcoOlives project alive and ongoing.
The EcoOlives project has been a success. As we conclude this chapter, the sustainable practices and partnerships we’ve fostered will continue to thrive.
